PIPLINE CONTINGENCY
> Contingency Clamps

Where a failure or potential failure of pipeline integrity is detected, the speed of response for repair is often critical. In some cases, mostly for large diameter or critical pipelines, the operator will make contingency preparations by purchasing long lead repair clamps, large bore valves, and other contingency equipment and holding them in storage to facilitate a fast response. STATS works closely with many operators in the supply, maintenance and operation of contingency equipment, holding operation and maintenance contracts with Shell and Statoil relating to client owned isolation plugs and repair clamps.

We have also recently supplied large contingency bolted repair clamps to BTC and SCP in Azerbaijan. These clamps at 42” and 46” diameter and 144 bar working pressure are the largest we have produced to date. The weight of these clamps was kept to a minimum to minimise the problems in transporting over extremely hostile mountainous environments.

Process & Pipeline Repair – Contingency Clamps

STATS has been specialising in pipeline and topsides pipe work integrity products and services since 1998. With our acquisition of Tecnomarine in 2004, the available technology and pipeline integrity experience was extended. Our suite of products and services allow us to tackle the challenges offered by unplanned maintenance in inaccessible places with a rapid response. These same products and services can also be used with correct planning to provide a contingency service which if utilised with a suitable scheduled maintenance programme can minimise unplanned shutdowns. This is particularly applicable for large bore pipelines where the lead time on material and equipment is longer.
