As Lead Draftsperson you will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models and complete 2D drawing packages suitable for manufacturing and assembly along with training and guiding Draftspersons and Graduate Engineers. Provide technical leadership on drafting standards for commercial and development projects by taking technical responsibility & accountability.
Internal and External Relationships
Directly Reports to: Design Team Lead
Along with: Design Draughtsperson, Trainee Design Engineers, Design Engineers, Engineering Office Coordinator / Administrator
Directly Supervises: Draughtsperson, Trainee Draughtperson and drafting side of Graduate Engineers
External Relationships: Clients / Suppliers
General: Taking technical direction and guidance from the Team Leader, TAG Team, Senior Engineers & project technical leads.
Leadership: Working under the guidance of the SE/Team Leader, assuming technical disciplinary responsibility for drafting related tasks and activities.
Provide drafting support and coaching for Draftspersons, Trainee Draftsperson & Graduate Engineers.
Ownership and Accountability: Accountability for quality, safety and fitness for purpose of drafting work undertaken.
Ownership and responsibility for drawing completeness and demonstration of fitness for purpose of all drafting tasks undertaken.
On time delivery and execution.
Checking of drawings produced within the department and making sure drafting and company standards are met.
Responsible for managing and delivering company and departmental objectives.
Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation plans and review with SE/Team Leader.
Design Reviews: Present technical proposals & designs at concept and detailed design reviews relating to but not limited to drafting.
Design Tools: Familiarisation and efficient use of design tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
Design Practices/Templates/Guidelines and Standards: Familiarisation and use of STATS design practices/templates/guidelines and STATS standards.
Provide technical input & develop Design Practices, Guidelines & Standards relating to drafting.
Develop Drawing Templates to capture the methodology and structure for subsequent use by other draftspersons.
Support: Provide drawing support and technical guidance to other STATS functions as required.
Provide drawing support and guidance for the manufacturing, assembly & test.
Carry out site surveys – onshore & offshore.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
Ensure high quality drawing and related documentation are produced within the department.
Ensure compliance with design practices/templates/guidelines/standards and approved processes throughout STATS.
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and proactively report at least 2 observations to improve safety in each calendar year.
Ensure all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards are immediately reported and relevant paper work is completed.
Qualifications / Experience
Engineering drafting experience demonstrated over 5-8 years in similar role.
Experience ideally in equipment design and operation in Isolation, Intervention or Pigging environment.
Educated to degree level, engineering or equivalent is a preference.
Preference for Member of recognised engineering body (e.g. IMechE).
Technical: Specialist knowledge and experience in a multi-disciplinary drawing office environment.
Knowledge and experience in Pipeline Isolation, Intervention and pigging equipment design.
Knowledge and experience of the utilization and operation of Pipeline Isolation, Intervention and pigging equipment.
Knowledge of Oil and Gas pipework design, installation and operation.
Commercial: Awareness and appreciation of market trends and emerging technologies relevant to STATS services, project or product developments.
Behavioural: Flexible and knowledgeable to work across disciplines and share ideas.
Methodical at problem solving.
Attention to detail - closer/finisher.
Ability to work to tight timescales/deadlines and under technical pressure.
Ability to co-ordinate and manage own work and team related activities to achieve quality, budget and timescales.
Works closely with Lead Design Engineers, Design Engineers, and the rest of the team to achieve design aims.

Ability to use past experience and technical knowledge to achieve solutions to complex engineering problems to agreed timescales.
