Job Purpose:
  • To deliver robust, best in class, market leading products that enhance and drive the growth of STATS Group.

  • Assigned Draftsperson or Trainee Engineers, as and when applicable.

External Relationships
  • Clients, Third Party Inspection and Verification Services
Main Responsibilities
  • Delivering key intervention, hot tap and clamp product solutions in a dynamic design environment.
  • Based on a diverse range of existing technology, work with colleagues to:
    • Ensure current products are supported and enhanced,
    • Design and develop new intervention products to suit both topside and subsea requirements,
    • Innovate new bespoke solutions to solve unique challenges a client may be experiencing.
  • Assist and support with the training and development of Trainee Design Engineers.
  • Maintaining good working relationships internally with other departments and business streams and externally with the client.
  • Keeping abreast of developments within the industry and help to ensure STATS remains seen as a leader in their field.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
  • To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards are immediately reported and relevant reporting process is followed.

Qualifications
  • Academic qualification such as BSc, HND in a relevant technical discipline are ideal, but candidates with suitable experience not holding the above may be considered.
Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
  • Ideally will have worked in a mechanical design role for a number of years, preferably within the Oil and Gas, or similar type of industry.
  • Must be able to design mechanical structures and mechanical systems from first principles.
  • Must be able to understand the content of engineering design calculations and manufacturing drawings.
  • Competence in 3D modelling and 2D drafting as well as the ability to maintain design documents is a job requirement. Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault are currently in use. Transition training from comparable applications can be provided where required.
  • Competence with Mathcad, MS Word and Excel, or similar applications is an advantage. Mathcad and MS office currently in use.
  • Design experience of Intervention (Hot Tapping) tools and equipment is an advantage.
  • Design experience of using pressure vessel and pipeline codes and standards is an advantage.
  • Design experience of leak-sealing enclosures is an advantage.
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing processes would be useful but is not essential.

  • Understands and upholds the values and responsibilities of a professional engineer.
  • Be able to work as a team member with other members from different departments / regions.
  • Be prepared to work out with normal hours when requirements demand.
  • Prepared to travel and work across different STATS facilities when requirements demand.
