Job Purpose

To assist in the design, development and support of electronic and electrical solution for STATS Remote Tecno Plug® pipeline isolation tools. The successful candidate will develop embedded micro controller sensor interfaces and assisting STATS to improve and enhance their range of products.

The successful candidate will follow the STATS Graduate Engineering Development Programme which will provide structure, systematic training and development to enable graduates to build upon their high academic achievements and gain the experience, skills of an engineering professional.

Main Responsibilities

The main role of the Remote Electronics Engineer is:

  • Design  Design and development of electronic solutions for Remote Tecno Plugs. This could be ultra-low power analogue electronic design of low noise amplifier filter systems, for STATS Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) magnetic through pipeline communication, to digital embedded microcontroller interfaces for pressure sensors, DC Motors, solenoid drivers, FRAM, SDRAM all primarily battery supplied.
  • Testing and configuration of ELF communication Printed Circuit Boards and embedded microcontroller control boards with multiple DC:DC converters, Solenoid drivers and DC Motor drivers.
  • Testing and configuration of Operator Consoles, Noise Survey Equipment and Subsea through water acoustic telemetry Systems.
  • Development of microcontroller embedded software (in C), for the control and operation of the Remote Tecno Plug.
    Specification and management of 3rd Parties for the supply of Graphical User Interface development, Subsea and topside control cables. Cables and connectors require to operate in Hazardous Oil and Gas Environments, and must be specified suitable for this duty.
    Generation of Test Procedures for the verification and configuration of electronic sub-system.
  • Development of custom project specific solutions, which could be camera system, ROV communication interfaces.

The successful candidate will follow the Graduate Engineering Development Programme, which will involve rotating around various Company departments which will include: -

  • Coordination of all technical documentation which may be required for the bid submission such as drawings and operational procedures
  • Responsible for creating and managing project plan, budget, contract milestone
  • Assist with field surveys as required
  • Coordinate of all technical documentation required for the project including engineering drawings, test procedures, operational procedures and risk assessments
  • Attend client meetings and HAZOP’s as required
  • Ensure drawings and associated documents are received in a timely manner from Engineering to meet project delivery schedule
  • Participate in design/operational reviews associated with project deliverables.
  • Ensure Purchase Requisitions are raised for all manufacturing and assembly components which are required for the project
  • Ensure Manufacturing Request Forms are issued for all components associated with the project
  • Ensure drawings are issued to manufacturing department in a timely manner to suit Project Schedule
  • Write all necessary ‘in house’ testing procedures relative to each project undertaken
  • Ensure Assembly and Test Request Forms are raised, and Assembly/Test Work pack is issued to workshop
  • Write Operational Procedures for offshore scope of supply
  • Compile mobilisation list and advise Operations on deployment requirement for offshore personnel
  • Ensure Manufacturing Record Books, when required, are compiled.

 

Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
  • To comply with STATS Integrated Management System when carrying out project engineering tasks
  • To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paper work is completed.
Qualifications
  • BSc/BEng (Hons) and/or MSc in Electronic and Electrical/Control System biased subjects.

 

experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
  • An engineering background with topside / process / pipeline / subsea experience would be an advantage
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Driving license would be an advantage
  • IT skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project
