Job Purpose
  • To act as member of the management team to ensure the constant and effective development of all aspects of the company.

 

  • Responsibility for scheduling and liaison between department management (Commercial, Operations, Projects, Engineering, Accounts and Administration) ensuring enquiries that have or are expected to be translated are scheduled into the overall machining, fabrication and manufacturing work schedules

 

  • To ensure that enquiries are progressed through the various stages of manufacturing in a timely and efficient/ safe manner to meet agreed client delivery dates.

  • Workshop and Manufacturing Manager

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities to meet delivery timelines and quality standards.
  • Manage and lead shop floor staff, including assigning tasks, setting performance goals, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and quality control teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Track production metrics (e.g., output, downtime, scrap rates) and report regularly to senior management.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of shop personnel.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Manage the manufacturing budget, including input, forecasting, and adherence to STATS financial goals.

Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
  • To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is completed.

Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Understand complex drawings, machining and welding processes.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to production, quality and safety.
  • Ability to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

  • Hands-on and proactive leadership style.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
