What excites me in my role at STATS Group is continually learning about all the different tools we design and manufacture and how we deploy them in the field. Seeing all the components as they move through from manufacture to assembly and test and then into a finished product is very exciting.
I joined STATS Group as an Office Junior after leaving secondary school, as part of my career progression I undertook an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration through the Modern Apprenticeship scheme which was fully funded by STATS. My career began supporting the machining, fabrication and engineering teams but has since moved into the operations department. As a Lead Operations Administrator I control all paperwork regarding activities in the workshop as well as coordinate the Field Technicians, ensuring the correct resources are allocated to each workscope and personnel travel arrangements are organised.
Since starting at STATS Group I have been given access to a range of courses, I first completed my level 3 Apprenticeship in Business and Administration and was then encouraged to continue my development and complete level 4. I’m now currently completing the ECITB Supervisory Management Training and Development (SMTD) course which will develop my leadership and supervisory skills needed as my responsibilities and career develops.
My biggest achievement during my career at STATS Group is the progression I have enjoyed from Office Junior into a Lead role and successfully completing my Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. Additionally reaching the final of the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Awards in 2011 was a big achievement as it recognised apprentices who had demonstrated initiative, enterprise and outstanding commitment to their skills development.
