Hydraulic Activation On All Tools Over 2"
Traditional methods of hydrostatic testing demand that you shut down and pressurise large tracts of your system. This is a costly exercise that often halts production for many hours at a time – impacting the overall productivity of your operation and ultimately reducing your organisation's bottom line.
It's also relatively high risk procedure, particularly if you're pressurising an older system. Conducting a 1.5 times design pressure test on mature assets could overstress the system resulting in damage leading to stress fractures or leaks.
Key Benefits
- Straightforward installation and operation
- Hydraulically activated
- Verify the integrity of new or existing welds in minutes
- Large-section, high-quality elastomer seals

Webinar - Maximising Shutdown Efficiency To Minimise Risk And Downtime
This 40 minute webinar will show you how to enhance safety and minimise unnecessary downtime using industry-leading technologies like hot work barriers and localised weld testing tools.
To help clients meet the requirements of codes and standards like ASME B31.3 or PD8010 without the stress or hassle associated with traditional hydrostatic testing procedures, STATS has developed a suite of industry-leading weld test tools that provide a fast, affordable and efficient alternative.
The use of localised weld testers also significantly reduces the volume of water required to perform a test limiting environmental impact.
These tools enable you to seal off and pressure test a short length of pipe using high-performance elastomer seals that are designed to create a leak-tight barrier on even the most pitted or corroded surfaces. They can withstand high pressures, are compatible with most liquid or gas test mediums and can be configured for all oil and gas pipelines up to 72" in diameter.
Our weld test tools are also built to comply with the most rigorous industry standards, and their robust construction means that they can be used time and time again. All tools are manufactured under a Quality Assurance Program certified to ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
We carry a large stock of in-line and flanged weld test tools that can be deployed to any location in 24-48 hours. We can also provide highly-trained and competent technicians if required, or work with your team to train frontline staff in the safe operation of our weld test equipment if you are testing welds on a semi-regular basis and need to in-house the process entirely.
Robust Weld Test Tools simplify & expedite weld testing
Irrespective of whether you're trying to test the integrity of a new butt weld or verify the strength of several joints in-line with your routine maintenance testing requirement, our weld test tools offer significant advantages in terms of cost, efficiency and ease of use.
Inline weld test tool are designed to improve shutdown efficiency, the dual use of the tool allows it to be deployed prior to hotwork as a verified vapour barrier, greatly increasing worksite safety. Inline tools feature a thru port to safely monitor the downstream to ensure no pressure build-up. Once welding is completed the same tool can then be repositioned to perform a leak-test of the new flange, fitting or off-take.
Hydraulically-actuated variants are available for all pipes over 2" in diameter, and our flanged and in-line weld test tools can all be installed and activated in a matter of minutes.
Operators or contractors deploying our weld test tools generally see a significant reduction in the time and cost associated with routine weld test procedures. Downtime is also significantly reduced, especially in scenarios where large sections of pipework would need to be de-watered after testing using traditional methods, and the chance of unexpected equipment failure is also reduced.
Off the shelf, we stock in-line and flanged weld test tools for ½”- 36” pipes, but we can configure tools for pipelines up to 72" on request. Smaller tools (up to 2") are mechanically-actuated, and tools for pipes above 2" are hydraulically-actuated for speed and ease of use. Bespoke weld tester can be designed and manufactured for applications such as nozzle testing or other challenging installations.
As with all STATS products, our weld test tools are made using high-quality components, chosen to maximise lifespan and durability. We've worked hard to establish a reputation for reliability, and we go to great lengths to ensure that our weld testing technology performs well on any pipe surface, irrespective of corrosion or pitting. In addition, all our tools are function tested and certified prior to deployment.
It's also worth noting that our weld test tools leverage experience gained while pioneering industry-leading, leak-tight seal technologies. The high-performance elastomer seals used in all of our weld test tools are designed to withstand pressures up to 690 bar or 10,000 psi.
In most cases, we provide weld test tools and the highly-trained staff required to operate them, but as mentioned, we do sell or rent tools to operators or contractors who do not require personnel, and can train in-house teams when required.
When you commission STATS Group to carry out a full weld testing service, we also supply full operating procedures.
