Job Purpose

To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical systems in the fabrication workshop, including CNC machines, heat treatment furnaces, welding equipment, and heavy machinery—minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, efficient production.

Main Responsibilities
  • Electrical Maintenance & Operations.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on workshop electrical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults in CNC machines, heat treatment furnaces, welding machines, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical panels, MCCs, transformers, and power distribution systems.
  • Execute wiring, termination, cable routing, and installation of electrical components.
  • Ensure proper earthing/grounding and protection systems are in place and functional.
  • CNC Machine Support.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical/control issues in CNC machines (VTL, HBM).
  • Troubleshoot drives, motors, encoders, sensors, limit switches, and control circuits.
  • Monitor CNC alarms and perform corrective maintenance to restore operations quickly.
  • Assist in CNC machine installation, commissioning, and upgrades.
  • Heat Treatment Furnace Maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain electrical systems of heat treatment furnaces (annealing, stress relieving, PWHT, etc.).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot temperature control systems, thermocouples, heating elements, and control panels.
  • Ensure proper functioning of temperature controllers, recorders, and data logging systems.
  • Support calibration of thermocouples and temperature monitoring instruments.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure furnace performance meets process and code requirements.
  • Breakdown & Preventive Maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical systems and equipment.

 

Individual Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow electrical safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Ensure safe isolation before working on equipment.
  • Use appropriate PPE when working on high-temperature furnaces and electrical systems.
  • Ensure safe working conditions around furnaces (high heat zones, cables, panels).
  •  Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.

EXPERIENCE / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
  • Diploma / Technical course in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance in heavy fabrication, steel, or manufacturing industry.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machines and heat treatment furnaces is essential.

Personal Qualities 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure breakdown situations.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • High safety awareness and discipline.
