Rising motocross star Logan Hendry has been crowned Scottish national champion in the 65cc class while his brother Owen finished in the top 20 rankings in his rookie year in the British Youth National Championships.
The Kintore pair have a bright future in motocross and left rivals in their wake as the duo competed the length and breadth of Britain in their most successful season to date.
Proud uncle Mike Scott paid tribute to his employer STATS Group which sponsored the boys during the 2015 season and the company’s support played a pivotal role in their success.
Mike said: “To really be able to compete at the highest level the lads need to have speed and high jumping abilities and the STATS’ sponsorship meant we could get their race bikes suspension set up by a professional firm Planet Suspension which made a huge difference to performance.”
In his first outing in the British championship 65cc class Logan, aged 10, finished seventh out of 40 riders, competing against rivals who are sponsored by big motocross teams.
Going in to the final weekend of the Scottish championships, the Kintore Primary School pupil was leading by 33 points and won three of his last races, securing the title with a 42 point gap.
Owen, aged 14 and a student at Kemnay Academy, raced a large wheel Husqvarna 85cc machine in his first season in the British Youth National Championships, competing in events in England, Wales and Ireland.
Sixty five riders were entered in his class and with only the top 40 qualifying for the main class, Owen qualified at each meeting and finished a fantastic 19th at the end of the season.
Mike added: “We were delighted Owen made the elite top 20 as the British championship features the cream of schoolboy motocross riders and he was competing against youngsters who are pro-riders and sponsored by well-resourced teams. There is no doubt he had the speed to compete against the top 15 and we expect him to do better next season.
“We are very proud of both of them and they are totally focused on motocross and are ready to put in the hard work over the winter months on and off the track to be ready for 2016 season.”
Next season Logan is expected to move up to small wheel 85cc class while brother Owen will compete in the 125cc class.
