STATS
Group have received international certification for the design and manufacture of its mechanical connector range.

STATS’ Connectors provide a mechanical pipe joint for the modification or repair of piping and pipelines throughout the oil, gas and petrochemical industry. These maintenance-free connectors eliminate the need for time consuming, costly and potentially hazardous hot work.

DNV GL, the world’s largest classification society, have granted Type Approval for the Connectors which provide a permanent and verified mechanical connection.

The slipover design and mechanical locking assembly does not require specialist equipment for installation and does not introduce localised stress or yield to the host pipe material to provide leak-tight mechanical integrity.

The connectors are configured with a dual seal assembly allowing the integrity to be verified via seal verification ports. The verification ports provide an external pressure test facility allowing the seal between the pipe and the Connector to be tested upon activation, prior to re-commissioning the line. Double block and bleed valves can be fitted to the seal verification ports to allow periodic monitoring of integrity once installed.

Scott Garner, STATS Group, Business Development Manager, said: “Connectors are available in a variety of configurations to allow pipe-to-pipe or pipe-to-flange connection or with a blind flange for capping redundant or decommissioned lines.

“Applications include tie-in or re-routing of pipework, sectional pipe replacement and pipe end cap termination for topsides, terminals and subsea pipework. This reliable and cost effective mechanical connection method is ideal where welded or hot-work options may be undesirable or not economically viable.”

STATS range of Connectors conform to the ISO 21329 Standard and are compliant with DNV-OS-F101:2012, Submarine Pipeline Repair and DNV-RP-F113:2007, Pipeline Subsea Repair.

The STATS range of mechanical connectors have provided proven leak-free service since 2003 and during this period more than 1000 mechanical connectors have been fitted to a variety of pipe systems ranging in size from 2” to 36”.

Designed with a pressure rating up to 51 Bar and temperatures from -40°C to 300°C, the Connector range is compatible with a range of pipe material including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and super duplex and certified fire safe to API 6FA.
